THE CHICAGO WAY

It was more than appropriate that THE CHICAGO WAY by Michael Harvey was following THE LONG GOODBYE. Mr. Harvey was surely channeling Raymond Chandler while writing this book and we're all the better for it.

This was an easy book to like and Chicago was a major character in the story. One of our members lived in the Windy City and recommended this read to us; he felt that the city is well represented and characterized in the book.

The characters were well-drawn and the action lively and intense. The city is gritty and the protagonist, Michael Kelly's wit balances moments of tragedy and suspense. If you're like us you won't want to put it down once you get started.

Mr Harvey is a notable writer for television and produces television's Cold Case Files, which he pokes a little fun at in the story. He's an agile and observant author with a nice economy of words and style. We had to give him 4 stars.
