MURDER IN THE SENTIER

By CARA BLACK

detectiveLast Tuesday we visited Paris en route to solving a murder and a family mystery in MURDER IN THE SENTIER by Cara Black with the discussion of the book led by Sandy. Apparently much of our membership is off traveling leaving us poor unfortunates here for the fire season. :( Though Sandy led us through some interesting tidbits about Cara Black including a YouTube segment (LINK HERE) following Aimee Leduc's footsteps through Paris we just weren't that crazy about the book.

Our criticisms were primarily for plot and character development. It was difficult to follow Aimee's movements and to figure out what she was doing or thinking much of the time. At times it seemed more like a travelogue then a story. As for characters there too many and they seemed to have no depth. It made it a book easy to put down and to forget to come back to. We had to argue with ourselves to get our judgment up to two stars and no one thought that they would recommend the book to a friend or that they were inclined to pick up another book in this series. Sigh. We have been badly spoiled by some of our previous authors like David Fulmer (Jass) and Will Thomas (Some Danger Involved) I'm afraid.
